Introduction

Advanced Vehicle Control (AVEC) technologies are being introduced into modern vehicles at an extraordinarily rapid pace. The AVEC Symposium, established in Japan in 1992, has become one of the major international symposiums in the field of vehicle control for high performance and safety. One of the features of the AVEC is the 50/50 contributions from academia and industry all over the world. The main objective of this symposium has consistently been to provide the opportunity for engineers and researchers in the field to communicate and exchange ideas about state-of-the-art development of vehicle dynamics with advanced control and electronic systems. AVEC ’08 will return to Japan and be held in Kobe in October 2008. We welcome all of you in the vehicle control fields to contribute to this promising and intriguing conference and to encourage each other for further R&D in the field.

Official Language

English is the official language of the symposium for both papers and presentations. Presentations will be limited to 30 minutes, which includes a 10-minute discussion.

Symposium Location

Map of Japan      The symposium will be held at the Kobe International Conference Center on Port Island in Kobe. Kobe is located in mid-western Japan and offers convenient access from and to all of Japan's major cities.
Kobe is also at the heart of Japan's premiere tourism region, less than an hour from ancient cities such as Kyoto, Nara and Himeji. Travel time from Tokyo takes 1 hour 20 minutes by plane and 2 hours 50 minutes by shinkansen (bullet train). From Osaka, train travel takes 30 minutes and Airport Limousine Bus service from Kansai International Airport takes 1 hour.
The nearest station to the Kobe International Conference Center is Shimin-Hiroba Station on the Port Liner urban transport line. Trains run every few minutes. The venue is just 2 minutes walk from the station.
